A distinguished man walked into an upscale bar in Miami. As he entered, he immediately noticed a woman of African descent sitting calmly in the corner. Without a second thought, he strode to the counter, pulled out a wad of cash, and declared loudly,
“Drinks for everyone here - except for that woman over there.”
The bartender took the money and began serving drinks around the room, skipping the woman.
To everyone's surprise, the woman didn’t react with anger. Instead, she looked at the man with a smile and said,
“Thank you!”
Confused and irritated by her calm response, the man pulled out even more money.
“Alright then! Food and more drinks for everyone—except for her!”
Again, the bartender followed instructions, and the woman once more responded with a composed,
“Thank you!”
Now visibly frustrated, the man leaned in and questioned the bartender.
“Why does she keep thanking me when I’ve clearly excluded her?” Is she crazy?
With a knowing smile, the bartender replied,
“No she is not crazy. She owns this place.”
Moral: Sometimes, those we try to bring down are already far above the reach of our negativity. Attempting to harm others out of spite may end up benefiting them. Let your character remain steady—you never lose when you stand tall in grace and power.
May every attempt to bring you down turn into your elevation. Amen.
